Zootopia

In recent years, Walt Disney Animation Studios has been on a roll. Since 2010, the company has enjoyed both critical and popular success with its computer-animated films -- Tangled, Wreck-It Ralph, Frozen and Big Hero 6 -- and that track record looks to continue with its next release.

Set in a large city inhabited entirely by talking animals, Zootopia follows a new police officer, Judy Hopps (voiced by Ginnifer Goodwin), as she investigates the case of a missing otter. Recognizing that she needs help, she enlists the assistance of Nick Wilde (voiced by Jason Bateman), a wily con artist who may have his own motivations for helping her.

Earlier trailers showcased the sloths who work at the DMV and Judy's motivation as the first rabbit officer in the police force. A new trailer, tailored for the U.K. -- where the film is titled Zootropia and is set to hit theaters later in March than here in the U.S. -- provides more insight on the fox known as Nick Wilde.

What's great about the trailer is the increased presence of Jason Bateman as Nick. Bateman is a very funny performer when he has good material and the animators have somehow designed the fox so that he resembles -- or at least suggests -- the actor. It's clear now that the bunny cop will be setting up the jokes for the con artist/fox to deliver, which sounds like a good path to success.

Other voices are provided by Idris Elba, J.K. Simmons, Jenny Slate, Tommy Chong, Octavia Spencer, Bonnie Hunt, Don Lake and Alan Tudyk. Byron Howard (Tangled, Bolt) and Rich Moore (Wreck-It Ralph) shared directing duties for the movie and their experience with comic adventures also gives us confidence that Zootopia will deliver the goods.
