"You're not students anymore... you're X-Men."
The newest trailer for X-Men: Apocalypse has dropped and it's pretty darn destructive. Squaring off against the most powerful X-villain yet, a team of veteran and student mutants must band together in order to defeat Apocalypse, the world's first mutant and someone who seems keen on destroying the entire planet. Assisting Apocalypse will be his "Four Horsemen," of which he recruited Psylocke (Olivia Munn), Storm (Alexandra Shipp), Angel/Archangel (Ben Hardy) and Magneto (Michael Fassbender).

One thing to keep in mind is that this X-Men movie is now on an alternate timeline than the others. Writer-producer Simon Kinberg talked about plans for the X-Men movie universe earlier this year. Changes in the timeline mean that some characters who appeared in the original trilogy of movies (X-Men, X2 and X-Men: The Last Stand) might not survive in the new series.
As to how the spin-off movies fit into the X-Men universe, Kinberg said: "They all are part of a larger fabric now, and so the world of Deadpool, the world of Gambit, exists in a post-Days of Future Past, post-Apocalypse world where all of these stories are the same as our shared history. … our fictitious events, like the stadium dropping on the White House in 1973, is part of the world in which Gambit, Deadpool, Wolverine" exist.
Will we lose any iconic X-Men in the upcoming X-Men: Apocalypse, which is meant to end the trilogy that began with X-Men: First Class? Based on all the intensity of those battle sequences, all bets are off.
X-Men: Apocalypse hits theaters on May 27. What do you think of the new trailer?
