The young-adult section of bookstores continues to be one of the most promising places from which to pluck future film franchises. The latest series hoping to join hits like The Maze Runner, The Hunger Games, Insurgent and Twilight is The 5th Wave, and this week we got our first look at the big-screen version.
Adapted from Rick Yancey's novel of the same name, The 5th Wave stars Chloë Grace Moretz as a young woman on the run in a future where mankind has been ravaged by an escalating series of alien invasions. As you can probably guess from the title, the story picks up right before the fifth, and presumably deadliest, wave of the invasion is set to begin.
Liev Schreiber, Maika Monroe, Nick Robinson, Maria Bello, Maggie Siff and Ron Livingston also star. Check it out.
