We're still a couple months away from the release of Transformers 2 (aka Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen), and already the next installment has been announced. Should we be excited about this? I guess so … if giant robot battles and Megan Fox turn you on (which, ahem, they do). Variety tells us Transformers 3 has set a tentative date of July 1, 2011 – adding a whole lotta muscle to an already stacked summer. And when I say 'stacked', I mean 'Holy crap are there a lot of superheroes heading our way!' I know we haven’t even kicked off the summer 2009 yet (still another month or so to go), but take a look at what 2011 has to offer so far and tell me we’re not in store for awesome galore:
Spider-Man 4 – May 6, 2011
Thor – June 17, 2011
Transformers 3 – July 1, 2011
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 – July 15, 2011
The First Avenger: Captain America – July 22, 2011
Um, yeah … and we haven't even slotted a spot for Batman or Superman yet. Granted, the next Batman film will probably hold out for a summer 2012 date now that 2011 is packed with fellow heroes, but DC will definitely want to show some of their muscle seeing as Marvel is totally owning right now. Will we see a new Superman movie shove his way into the schedule? And with Transformers 3 claiming the July 1 spot this early in the game, does that mean Revenge of the Fallen will end on a major cliffhanger?
Sound off below and tell us which of these giant blockbusters you're looking forward to the most…
