In Battle for Brooklyn, we follow the story of reluctant activist Daniel Goldstein as he struggles to save his home and community from being demolished to make way for a huge real estate development. Goldstein wages a war against the New Jersey Nets, among other clients, who are seeking to build a new arena in the heart of Brooklyn. A true David versus Goliath story, Goldstein's seven-year war continues as he fights in court, the streets and the media to stop the abuse of eminent domain.

 

The beautifully shot documentary follows the story of a man named Buck who is sort of a horse whisperer. The movie then transitions with the mantra that "Horses are a mirror to your soul," and follows Buck as he treks across the country for nine months helping people with problem horses. Or maybe the horses are okay and it's the people who are filled with problems. Buck premiered at Sundance and is getting a limited release in Los Angeles and New York before expanding throughout the country the next three weeks.

 

Jig takes us on that familiar journey of a bunch of aspiring individuals hoping to make it to the championships and prevailing. The championships in this case are the World Irish Dancing Championships, with dancers from the U.S., Holland, England, Russia and yes, Ireland, competing to take home the top prize. Which contestant will reach the top in the nail-biting, foot-stomping end?
