Fourteen months ago Tracy Morgan was a passenger in a limo hit by a Walmart tractor-trailer in an incident that would not only put him in a coma for eight days, but sadly claim the life of his friend James McNair. Since then, Morgan has been understandably staying out of the public eye on his road to recovery from several broken bones and a traumatic brain injury.

But over the weekend Morgan surprised a theater full of his peers and an audience all over the world as an unannounced presenter at the Emmys (only four people knew he was coming). But that's not the only surprise Morgan had for fans this week. The Wrap broke the news that he's in final negotiations for his first post-crash movie, the comedy Fist Fight.

Morgan's exact role hasn't been announced yet, but he'll be joining stars Ice Cube and Charlie Day in the comedy about a teacher (Day) who gets challenged to a fist fight by a tough colleague (Cube). Morgan and Cube last shared the screen together in 2008's First Sunday (pictured below).

Long before any of us can see Fist Fight, though, we'll be able to watch Morgan's triumphant return to comedy when he hosts Saturday Night Live, the show that made him a household name, on October 17, 2015. Set your DVRs now.

And in case you missed it, here's Morgan's surprise appearance at the Emmys.
