People don't yet quite know what to expect from Moana, the forthcoming Walt Disney Animation Studios movie. Well, that's not entirely true. Audiences can reliably expect it to be good. After all, this is the studio coming off the hot streak of Wreck-It Ralph, Frozen, Big Hero 6 and Zootopia. The people there kind of know what they're doing.
But audiences don't really know what to expect about the tone, plot or characters. That's kind of how Disney Animation sells its movies early on. Frozen's first trailers focused more on Olaf than the movie's story or even the fact that it was a musical. Zootopia was basically pitched as a movie about a city where everyone is an animal, not a noir mystery. We know Moana is about a young woman navigating the open ocean in search of an island. That's all we know.
Well, that's not entirely true, either. We know the movie is going to be absolutely stunning. How? We've got this Japanese teaser to prove it. Check it out.
Moana hits theaters on November 23, 2016.
