Many are looking at this weekend’s Beautiful Creatures as the obvious successor for The Twilight Saga, and that might end up being the case. But I’m willing to put my money on The Host – the latest adaptation of a Stephenie Meyer’s novel – as that sci-fi romance steps up its marketing campaign to get on fans’ radars.
Open Road Films has circled March 29 as a prime release date for the romantic thriller, which stars Saoirse Ronan (Hanna, Atonement), Max Irons and Jake Abel in a futuristic adventure about humans fighting back against a unique alien invasion. And in preparation of the release, the studio attached a new trailer to prints of Safe Haven in theaters this weekend.
But that’s not all. Later today, at 11 a.m. PT / 2 p.m. ET, Meyer and the cast of The Host will participate in an interactive video chat about the upcoming film and their process at bringing it to the big screen. Click here to participate in that event, and check out the latest trailer below:
The Host introduces fans to a new side of Meyer. No vampires. No werewolves. Will audiences still respond? We’ll find out on March 29, when The Host opens in theaters across the United States.
