Some things in life we just know to be true. The sun rises in the east, snow is cold, and the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles love pizza.

Leonardo, Donatello, Michelangelo and Raphael – the crime-fighting quartet known as TMNT – aren’t the only ones who have a thing for a pie of their own. Pizza also happens to be one of those palate-pleasing dishes that pretty much all kids adore. In honor of the newest installment in the franchise, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadowsopening June 3, try this TMNT-inspired pizza pie with your kids. The turtles would be honored (and they’d probably wolf down the whole thing!).

You’ll Need:

Jar of pesto

1 pizza pie crust

1 package of pepperoni

1 can diced black olives

2 small mozzarella balls

Directions:

Spread the pesto over the surface of the pie crust.

Cut the pepperoni to make rectangular shapes (using about eight or so pieces of pepperoni) and position them on top of the pesto to create a mask. Leave an area in the middle (using two rows) to create a space for the eyes.

Cut the mozzarella balls into two flat round pieces. Place those in the middle of the area created while making the mask. Add a tiny bit of the diced olives on top of the mozzarella sections.

Take the diced black olives and create a mouth by making two slightly curved lines that join at the ends.

Bake your pizza for about 10 minutes (or follow the directions from the pizza-crust manufacturer) and enjoy!
