Long before Snow White and the Huntsman reached theaters, plans were circulating around a potential sequel, with news reaching us that the focus could fall on Chris Hemsworth’s character, the Huntsman. Now that the revisionist fairy tale film opened to a healthy $56.2 million (adding an additional $46.6M overseas to date), the sequel’s moving forward, and we’re starting to get new details.

For starters, Huntsman director Rupert Sanders is being wooed to return to the series and extend the franchise he helped launch. Sanders’ visual style was praised in multiple Snow White reviews, and maintaining his vision would help this sequel get off on a strong foot.

In addition, screenwriter David Koepp – whose credits include Jurassic Park, Spider-Man Mission: Impossible and Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull – has been tapped to handle script duties on a sequel, according to Deadline. His first step, I imagine, will be coming up with a new villain as (SPOILER ALERT!!) we lost the great Charlize Theron at the end of Huntsman

Deadline says that the actors have options for two sequels in their contracts, which could handcuff Kristen Stewart to another franchise following her work in The Twilight Saga. And don’t get us started on Hemsworth, who has Thor and Avengers work on his docket for the next decade.

But it sounds like they’ll both have Snow White in their professional universe for the immediate future, as this sequel reportedly is being fast-tracked.

So tell us, where would you like to see the Huntsman story go next? Would you like to see the focus shift to Hemsworth’s Huntsman character? Should he and Snow face off against another classic fairy tale villain? The storybook possibilities are endless.
