There are movie collectibles and then there are unbelievable pieces of awesome that you simply must own. While chances are Christopher Nolan will not recast the role of Joker for the next Batman film, you can own a piece of cinema history with this fantastic Joker collectible figure from Hot Toys. It’s not available yet, but when it eventually hits shelves later this year, the figure – which boasts some of the finest detail I’ve ever seen – will stand approximately 12 inches tall, feature a parallel eyeball rolling system (freaky!) and come with a few weapons and two different outfits: the cop uniform or the traditional purple coat.
From what we’ve heard, this collectible will run about $150, and if you’re a huge fan of Batman or The Dark Knight (or know someone who is), then I cannot imagine a better gift. Check out one photo here and the rest over at Hot Toys.
So, who’s making the purchase?
Paul Weitz in Talks to Direct 'Meet the Parents' Sequel
Not long ago we told you how they were prepping a third installment in the Meet the Parents franchise called Little Fockers – which, going on the title alone, tells us that this sequel will be all about a new addition to the Focker family in the form of baby from our lovable heroes, Greg (Ben Stiller) and Pam (Teri Polo). Of course, expect plenty of hilarity to ensue when all the parents show up to stick their nose (and their opinions) where they don’t belong.
Anyway, last time we talked we told you how Jay Roach wasn’t returning to direct, and now Variety reports that Paul Weitz (whose brother Chris is directing the Twilight sequel New Moon) is in negotiations to helm the Parents sequel, which so far has De Niro, Stiller, Polo, Owen Wilson and Blythe Danner set to reprise their respective roles.
Are you looking forward to another sequel in this franchise, or were two films enough?
Hey, Wanna Try Out for Spider-Man: The Musical?
Yes, in case you haven’t heard, Spider-Man is heading for Broadway in the form of a brand new musical directed by Julie Taymor (Across the Universe), with lyrics by U2’s Bono and The Edge. Spider-Man Turn Off The Dark will hit Broadway on February 18, 2010, but in the meantime they need to fill some roles – which is why open casting calls are being held across the country to find the next Peter Parker ("Male. 16-20’s. Must have a great rock tenor voice. Can be nerdy with understated sex appeal and a good sense of humor"), Mary Jane ("Female. 16-20s. Beautiful girl next door. Strong pop/rock singing voice required") and the Lead Female Villain ("Female. 25-35 years old. All ethnicities encouraged. Must have an amazing rock voice. Think Sinead O’Connor with a Middle Eastern /Bulgarian/Greek twist. Foreign and/or world music types are great. Foreign accents are great").
If you or someone you know is interested in auditioning for Spider-Man Turn Off The Dark, then head over to IESB and check out the full details. Fear not, Spidey fans – this doesn’t mean they’re abandoning the next big-screen Spider-Man movie, which is already in active development with a release date set for May 6, 2011.
