Scoop This: ‘Iron Man 3’ News, ‘Puss in Boots’ and ‘Kung Fu Panda 2’ Trailers

Back when it was announced that Shane Black was directing Iron Man 3, there was no word on whether the Lethal Weapon screenwriter was also writing the screenplay for the third installment. While speaking at the Omaha Film Festival, Black did confirm that he’s writing the script, and said he plans to meet with Robert Downey Jr. soon in Los Angeles where the two will collaborate on the story.

 

No word yet on what it will focus on except that it will be a standalone story that won’t factor in to the larger Marvel universe. Apparently Marvel only did this crossover stuff so they’d have a set up for The Avengers, and now they plan to kill the approach so that each character can have their own story that doesn’t involve another larger story. Black did say he wants the villain to be a real-world villain and not some guy in a giant robot suit, which leads many of us to assume The Mandarin will factor in somehow. Should be fun seeing this one come together – Iron Man 3 is due out in May, 2013.

 

 

We might be done with Shrek for now, but that doesn’t mean other characters in the Shrek universe can’t get their own movies. Take, for example, the character of Puss in Boots, hilariously voiced by Antonio Banderas in all the Shrek movies.

 

In the Shrek films Puss in Boots is Shrek’s loyal sidekick, but what about before he met Shrek? Due out on November 4th, Puss in Boots will follow our favorite sword-fighting cat in the events leading up to his fateful meeting with that giant green ogre. Check out the film’s first teaser trailer below.

 

 

 

And speaking of spin-offs and sequels, we finally have a new trailer for Kung Fu Panda 2 to show you following the teaser debut during the Super Bowl. All your favorite characters have returned for this one, along with the actors and actresses who voiced them the first time around, for a story that revolves around Po (Jack Black) joining forces with a group of kung-fu masters in an attempt to battle an old enemy who carried a secret weapon.
