If Sam Worthington has proved anything so far, it's that the guy definitely likes his big-budgeted action films. After starring in Terminator Salvation, Avatar and Clash of the Titans, Worthington will be suiting up for another adventure – this time as Allan Quatermain, who kinda always reminded me of a less interesting Indiana Jones.
Heat Vision tells us that Worthington has signed on for a sci-fi take on Quaterrmain, where the adventurer will return to Earth long after humans have left in order to embark on a "King Solomon's Mines-style adventure, but on a planetwide scale." Quatermain was last played by Sean Connery in the disappointing 2003 film The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, and those old schoolers may remember the rugged Richard Chamberlain's take on the character in the mid-80s films King Solomon's Mines and Allan Quatermain and the Lost City of Gold.
I personally don't see why Hollywood is so fascinated by Sam Worthington. He's a good-looking guy, sure, and he can definitely throw a punch or two, but he's kind of boring and dull. It's hard for me to see him playing a passionate, tough-as-nails adventurer because he rarely gives you anything in terms of emotion or depth. But maybe that's just me. I can't believe I'm saying this, but maybe we need to see Worthington play a regular dude in some regular romantic comedy in order to see him take on a down-to-earth character instead of another futuristic soldier-type.
