Remember on Friday when I told you to keep your eye on those Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps boys because they could totally sneak up on us and win the weekend? Well, that’s exactly what they did – knocking Zack Snyder’s Legend of the Guardians back a slot to second place, despite the fact that it had the magical 3D component. The Wall Street sequel proved too appetizing to those looking to reunite with the character Michael Douglas won an Oscar for, grabbing $19 million for the number one spot. Snyder’s animated owl flick fell to number two with $16.3 million, just barely edging out last week’s number one, The Town, which pulled in $16 million. The weekend’s other new release, You Again, opened in the number five spot with $8.3 million.
Like we’ve said before, though, the film that wins at the box office isn’t always the one that wins with fans, too, so every Monday we like to throw out one of our highly anticipated polls in order to ask you which film rocked your box office this weekend. Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps won the box office, yes, but maybe you absolutely adored You Again over the sleazy, stock market drama. Then again, perhaps watching owls do battle in 3D was more your thing.
