Earlier this week we reported that Disney was making their Lone Ranger movie (starring Johnny Depp) a priority over the next Pirates of the Caribbean installment. But now their tune is changing, and according to mega-producer Jerry Bruckheimer – who recently spoke to Coming Soon about both properties – it now looks like we'll be boarding ships before riding horses.
Says Bruckheimer, "It's a great franchise for [Disney] and for us, too. "We love the character and Johnny was really excited about coming back to Captain Jack. He certainly is interested in Tonto [in The Lone Ranger], but Disney's priority is to get Pirates made first. You never know what's going to happen, but they would like it." Why wouldn't Disney want to make Pirates 4 first – it's a giant franchise worth hundreds of millions of dollars versus the adaptation of an old TV show that Disney's audience isn't even familiar with, let alone interested in.
Which would you rather see: Pirates of the Caribbean 4 or The Lone Ranger?
