James McAvoy, Bruce Willis and Samuel L. Jackson star in M. Night Shyamalan's Glass, which opened to massive audiences in theaters over the weekend. The film reunites characters from Shyamalan's Unbreakable and Split in a thrilling new adventure that questions the importance of superheroes in modern culture.
What lies ahead for action thrillers in the next couple of months? We've picked out three upcoming movies that all look very promising.
Miss Bala
Gina Rodriguez stars as an American woman who is forced to go undercover in a Mexican gang in order to clear her name of the crime the gang forced her to commit. The twisty thriller also stars Anthony Mackie, and looks like it will be filled with tense action sequences.
Miss Balawill open in theaters everywhere on February 1, 2019.
Cold Pursuit
Liam Neeson stars as an ice plow driver in the frozen North who is happy with his lot in life, married to Laura Dern and content with his work. When his son is murdered, however, he becomes bent on revenge against the drug dealers he holds responsible.
Emmy Rossum also stars. The opening sequences are quiet and serene; then all action bets are off once Neeson kicks into high gear. Cold Pursuit will open in theaters nationwide on February 8, 2019.
Alita: Battle Angel
Producer James Cameron's longtime dream project is finally heading to the big screen under the direction of Robert Rodriguez. It follows the adventures of a young woman (Rosa Salazar) who worries that she may not be "completely human." The trailer, however, proves otherwise.
Christoph Waltz, Jennifer Connelly, Mahershala Ali, Ed Skrein and Jackie Earle Haley also star. The action-packed thriller will open in theaters everywhere on February 14, 2019.
