The Fast and the Furious:The first film in a franchise that is still going strong, The Fast and the Furious will be returning to select theaters on June 22. (Ticket information is available here.) Meanwhile, Hiram Garcia, one of the producers of the eighth installment of the series, says that Hobbs, the character played by Dwayne Johnson, will play a larger role in the story than in Furious 7 (above). Garcia also says that "there's always been conversations" about a spin-off movie revolving around Hobbs and those talks are continuing. [The Wrap/ComicBook]
Ghost in the Shell: Rila Fukushima (The Wolverine, above) has joined the cast of Ghost in the Shell. Scarlett Johansson stars in the big-screen adaptation of a Japanese manga series about an antiterrorist task force, set in the 21st century. Michael Pitt, Juliette Binoche and Takeshi Kitano will costar; Rupert Sanders (Snow White and the Huntsman) will direct. The movie is scheduled for release on March 31, 2017. [THR]
The Infiltrator Trailer: Government agent Bryan Cranston goes undercover to try and bring down infamous drug lord Pablo Escobar in a new trailer for The Infiltrator. John Leguizamo, Diane Kruger, Amy Ryan and Benjamin Bratt also star; the thriller will open in theaters on July 13. [Movieclips]
