Doc Savage

Doc Savage: Back in May 2013, Shane Black signed on to make Doc Savage and now he may finally have found his star. According to Black, Dwayne Johnson is in talks to portray the titular character, a multitalented hero who has appeared in more than 180 stories published since 1933. Black acknowledged the challenge of synthesizing the most enduring elements of the character detailed in so many stories: "It's really daunting, really." [Reddit]

The Dark Tower

The Dark Tower: Author Stephen King shared a photo via social media that has stirred speculation about the upcoming movie adaptation of his book series The Dark Tower. King's photo caption states in part: "Soon Roland will raise the Horn of Eld. And blow." Since the horn does not appear in the first novel in the series but plays a key role when it appears later, some readers believe that means the first movie will be significantly different from the book. The Dark Tower is scheduled to open on February 23, 2017. [BirthMoviesDeath]

Sausage Party

Sausage Party Trailer: A new green-band (safe for work) trailer for Sausage Party initially looks like a charming, family-friendly tale about grocery store items coming to life and finding a new home with a loving family. Of course, since the R-rated movie originated in the minds of Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg, rest assured that it will not prove safe for work when it opens in theaters on August 12. [Movieclips]
