Star Trek: According to J.J. Abrams, Anton Yelchin will not be replaced in the next Star Trek movie. Yelchin, who was tragically killed in a freak auto accident last month, portrayed Ensign Pavel Chekov in the three most recent franchise installments. Abrams says that the filmmakers have been discussing how to deal with the loss of the character in the screenplay, but "there’s no replacing [Yelchin]. There’s no recasting. I can’t possibly imagine that and I think Anton deserves better." [Toronto Sun]
Cooley High: A new version of Cooley High is on its way. Released in 1975 (above), the movie looked back at a group of Chicago high school friends in 1964. Seth Rosenfeld will write the script.
