Jumanji: Dwayne Johnson, who will be starring in a new version of family adventure Jumanji, revealed via social media that he recently met with his fellow producers and director Jake Kasdan about the project. Referring to Robin Williams, who starred in the 1995 movie version as Alan Parrish, Johnson stated: "The love and respect I have for this man is boundless. You have my word, we will honor his name and the character of Alan Parrish will stand alone and be forever immortalized in the world of Jumanji in an earnest and cool way." [Instagram]
Z: Gael Garcia Bernal will star as Zorro in Z, to be directed by Jonas Cuaron. The two recently teamed for the thriller Desierto (above), which is due for release later this year. Curaon wrote the screenplay for Z, which is set in the near future and draws from stories by Johnston McCulley about a masked outlaw who fights in behalf of the common people against oppressive authorities and other villains. The Wall: Aaron Taylor-Johnson (Avengers: Age of Ultron, above) is in talks to star in The Wall, a thriller about an American sniper battling an Iraqi sharpshooter. Doug Liman (Edge of Tomorrow) is set to direct the movie for Amazon Pictures. [Variety]
