The Tommyknockers: Filmmaker James Wan (The Conjuring 2, above) will help bring Stephen King's The Tommyknockers to the big screen. Like last fall's smash hit It, The Tommyknockers was first adapted for television; the sci-fi/horror story follows small town residents as they fall under the spell of a mysterious object. It producer Roy Lee will also work on the new project, along with Larry Sanitsky, who served as executive producer on the 1993 TV version. [THR]
Heist Film: Evan Rachel Wood (TV's Westworld; Allure, above), Gina Rodriguez (TV's Jane the Virgin), Richard Jenkins and Debra Winger will star in the next film by filmmaker Miranda July (The Future). Murder Mystery: Back in 2011, Adam Sandler and Jennifer Aniston starred together in Just Go for It (above at the film's premiere). Now they are reuniting for Murder Mystery, a comedy in which a New York cop (Sandler) and his wife (Aniston) become prime suspects in a murder case while they're on vacation in Europe. James Vanderbilt wrote the original script; Kyle Newacheck (TV's Workaholics) will direct for Netflix. [Variety]
