One look at the summer movie schedule and it's clear the next few months will find a lot of big-budgeted sequels heading our way. And while those movies will get the most attention, it's actually the season's comedies that may steal the show.

From the excellent Neighbors 2 and The Nice Guys to next month's Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping to Central Intelligence to Ghostbusters to Bad Moms to Sausage Party (and, sure, throw in Finding Dory and The Secret Life of Pets, too), this summer is stuffed with all different kinds of hilarious-looking comedies.

So is this the summer of the comedy?

Take Popstar for example. The new trailer is below, and from the first line ("Ever since I was born, I was dope"), this film seems like it's the music-industry spoof we never knew we desperately needed.

Everything about this feels like a Caddyshack or Airplane for the iTunes generation -- smart satire that not only produces laughs, but also music you actually want to keep listening to. Based on the ecstatic early buzz we've heard about Popstar, too, it looks to join the recent What We Do in the Shadows as another sign that there's still life left in the spoof, and there's still room for outlandish humor to play like gangbusters assuming the right comedic minds are in control.

We're already off to a good start when it comes to this summer's comedies. Will the rest of the lot hold up just as well? What do you think?
