This in from Stacie Hougland: One of the most influential movies in cinematic history is being re-released on DVD Dec. 18 in honor of its 25th anniversary: Blade Runner. And man! Simply put, this newly restored and remastered version looks amazing. Director Ridley Scott says the restoration process began in 2000 and involved digging deep into the archives to uncover missing footage, improving the special effects, and even shooting new scenes.

Check out these pics of the gorgeous Bradbury Building (built in 1893) in downtown Los Angeles, used prominently in the film (it was the setting for Harrison Ford and Rutger Hauer’s final showdown) and turned into a moody futurescape once again for the DVD release party. Complete with neon, fog machines, spotlights and mannequins posed on the Bradbury’s stairways, it was like being in the movie—especially when Sean Young showed up in a big furry coat like her character in the film.
