Katy Perry would like part of you to be part of her upcoming film, Part of Me

What part of that didn’t you get?

The pop-music superstar announced that she’s partnering with Paramount’s Insurge Pictures and Twitter to give fans a chance to be involved in her upcoming feature film Katy Perry: Part of Me. How do you participate? Well, at various stages over the next several months, fans who follow Perry on Twitter (@KatyPerry) will be asked to weigh in on what they’d like to see in her finished film.  Which songs would you like to hear her sing? What do you think she should wear in a given scene? These important choices now will be up to you.

Actually, I love this. It makes me wish The Beatles had Twitter back when they were working on Help! and A Hard Day’s Night. Or what if Scorsese took suggestions from Tweeps about The Last Waltz or No Direction Home? The possibilities are endless.

This interactivity also helps Perry distance her still-developing feature from the similar fan-friendly films released by U2, Justin Bieber and Miley Cyrus, to name just a few.

“Millions of Katy’s most passionate fans use Twitter every day to hear directly from her and get a unique glimpse into the life of one of music’s biggest stars,” said Dick Costolo, Twitter CEO. “With this new approach to filmmaking, Paramount is taking the connections forged on Twitter one step further by empowering people to take part in the movie.”

Does that mean we all get co-director credits alongside the previously announced directing team of Dan Cutforth and Jane Lipsitz?

Fans who are interested in shaping Part of Me are encouraged to visit www.Twitter.com/KatyPerry, or follow the singer’s Tweet stream to get access to the latest updates from the film’s set. Fans can use the hashtag #KP3D to connect with each other and share on Twitter. The film doesn’t have a release date yet. I guess Paramount’s worried we might slow the movie down in post-production with all of our Twitter demands.
