Struck by Genius: Channing Tatum could get a beautiful mind if he signs on to this project being tailored for him. Struck by Genius is the true story of a party animal who gained uncanny math skills after getting beat up outside a karaoke bar. What sounds like a superhero origin story, though, will actually be pretty dramatic, and that could mean further recognition of Tatum as a respectable actor in the wake of his Oscar buzz with Foxcatcher. Paranormal Activity 5: Paramount has revealed a new release date for the next Paranormal Activity movie, which is now called Paranormal Activity: The Ghost Dimension (can we pull a "Ghotocol" and nickname this thing "Ghomension"?). The sequel is arriving sooner than six months from now, on March 14, 2015. Apparently the Ides of March is the new Halloween for horror releases. [The Wrap]
Problem Child: TV shows based on movies tend to work better the second time around -- just ask Parenthood. Following in the footsteps of a forgotten cartoon version of Problem Child in the early '90s, Old School director Scot Armstrong is developing a new take on the comedy about a terrible ginger orphan adopted by a kindly John Ritter. Maybe they can get Jason Ritter to honor his father in the role of the troublemaker's new dad. [Deadline]
Let's Be Diplomats: Imagine Spy Kids but with young adults who have diplomats as parents. Fox has green-lit Let's Be Cops writer-director Luke Greenfield's next project, a suspense thriller that's similarly about characters abusing power they don't deserve. Just imagine what you'd do if you couldn't get arrested, but for illegal stunts rather than Purge-type horror. That'll be the fantasy at the start of the movie before it apparently goes all James Bond Jr. [Deadline]
Men, Women & Children trailer: The highly anticipated new drama from Jason Reitman (Up in the Air) has a new full international trailer, which unlike the earlier, text-and-music-based teaser gives us a good amount of dialogue. At Toronto, our own Erik Davis called the film Reitman's most ambitious to date and a real conversation starter. "You know these people. You are these people," he wrote. Meet them/yourself more fully below. [MovieClips]
