You don’t just love movies, you love move culture. Well, here are a bunch of bites to satisfy your hunger for all the latest in trailer mash-ups, supercuts, cosplay and more. In this monthly feature, we put the fan in Fandango by showcasing the best work from movie lovers responding to the most anticipated new releases.
Movie Mash-up of the Month:
There weren’t enough babies in Jurassic World, but this combination of the Jurassic Park sequel and Rugrats in Paris: The Movie (titled Jurassic World: Reptar’s Revenge) solves that. Surprisingly, the live-action and animation clips don’t really clash.
Movie Parody of the Month:
It would have been cute enough to just replace the dinosaurs in the Jurassic World trailer with puppies. This video, titled “Jurassic Dog Park,” doubles down with adorable kids in the human roles, and they hilariously get why the whole thing is just a little bit more ridiculous than the actual movie’s premise.
Cosplay of the Month:
Humans in Minions costumes can look a little weird, but dogs in Minions costumes is one of the cutest trends right now. Now you just need to find a theater playing the new Despicable Me spin-off that allows pets.
Supercut of the Month:
In honor of the release of another Terminator movie, here’s a new compilation of Arnold Schwarzenegger saying his catchphrase “I’ll be back” (or a variation) in numerous movies, beginning of course with the original utterance in the original The Terminator.
Fan Art of the Month:
Below are the grand prize winner and our favorite runner-up in a Terminator fan-art contest held by Hitfix and Skydance Productions. The second one is more specifically tied to the latest sequel, Terminator Genisys, though the new movie isn’t quite that bright and adorable.
Meme of the Month:
It began with zookeepers mimicking Chris Pratt’s velociraptor-taming scene from Jurassic World. That was homage and parody (see more here). Now it’s got a name, “Prattkeeping,” and it’s expanded to include the following variety.
Toy of the Month:
In honor of the 40th anniversary of Jaws this summer, Funko’s ReAction Figures line added a special combination set with Quint and the shark. Apologies to anyone who still hasn’t seen Steven Spielberg’s classic summer blockbuster, as this is a rare toy that spoils a big part of the movie.
Fun Fan Theory of the Month:
How does Inside Out fit into the same world as the rest of Pixar’s movies? Jon Negroni has updated his popular Pixar Theory, which unifies all the studio’s features and shorts in one cinematic universe, to include the latest release. Read Negroni’s explanation in addition to watching the illustrated abridged version below.
Fan-Made Poster of the Month:
Speaking of Inside Out, here’s a minimalist poster for the movie by a fan who goes by the name Pandas of Doom. This simple yet clever design fits in with the other abstractions we see in the animated feature by breaking emotions down to expression of the eyes.
Musical Tribute of the Month:
Mark “The Hammer” Arata, aka the One Man Orchestra, recorded a new multitrack a capella version of the Back to the Future theme in honor of the movie’s 30th anniversary. And he multiplied himself for the video accompaniment below. We can pretend it’s also a Pitch Perfect 2 tie-in.
