In this day and age, it can take a lot to get horror-movie fans excited about a new movie, but as we head into the holidays, it's a good time to pause, reflect and celebrate scary (and seasonally appropriate) holiday horror-movie posters.
Thankskilling 3 (2012)
A serial killer known as Turkie wreaks havoc in one of the very few Thanksgiving-themed horror movies.
Black Christmas (1974)
Before he made Porky's or A Christmas Story, director Bob Clark broke new ground for horror movies by setting this diabolical tale during Christmas break at a college sorority house. The movie was also known as Silent Night, Evil Night.
Silent Night, Deadly Night (1984)
Still dealing with the murder of his parents, a boy suffered further abuse at an orphanage. No wonder he dresses up as Santa Claus to carry out his murderous rampage. And no wonder that the movie inspired multiple sequels.
Jack Frost (1996)
Heading to his execution, a serial killer is transformed into a snowman -- it's probably better not to ask how -- and continues slaughtering innocent victims. (Note: this is not the Michael Keaton family movie that came out around the same time!)
Black Christmas (2006)
The good-faith remake features an appealing cast, including Michelle Trachtenberg and Mary Elizabeth Winstead, though it can't quite live up to the original.
Silent Night (2012)
A very loose remake of the 1984 original, this version emphasizes the kill scenes over everything else, which makes it perfect for hard-core horror fans with strong stomachs.
