Following a huge opening weekend for Insidious: Chapter 2 ($41 million), Film District has announced that it has officially green lit a third Insidious movie. Those who saw the second chapter to James Wan's horror franchise know that the ending left open the possibility of a third movie.

Last week, Wan had said that he was done with the horror-movie genre, which means the third chapter of the Lambert-family horror tale will be in the hands of a new director. Wan has moved on and is currently filming the seventh installment to the Fast & Furious franchise.

Producer Jason Blum remains skeptical though, saying, "I think he says he's not gonna make another horror movie, but I'm sure that he will and it will be even better for having done Fast & Furious."

THR reports that the third Insidious movie will bring back Lin Shaye's character as well as ghost hunters Specs and Tucker.

Who do you think should direct Insidious 3? How big of a loss is not having Wan involved with this next film?
