For a long time there was talk of a Goonies sequel. At one point, screenwriters were pitching scripts, while Goonies director Richard Donner and Steven Spielberg brainstormed a way to make it happen – be it with the original cast returning for an adventure story that involves their kids or what have you. Then, the talk shifted to a Goonies musical, which Donner was also in favor of. Eventually, they all settled for a Goonies reunion, which was put together for Empire Magazine's 20th Birthday Issue last year. Meanwhile, while plans for a Goonies sequel and musical quietly disappeared, some fans actually went through the trouble of writing their own Goonies musical. Not only did they pen the lyrics for several songs, but they also recorded them and then put them on YouTube. Rob Dean and Keith Doughty have been working on their Goonies musical for awhile now (since before Donner even mentioned it), and now you can get in on the action by listening to the songs, which they uploaded to YouTube alongside footage from the actual film.
