Considering how successful Piranha 3D was with fans (so much so that a sequel is already being planned), Hollywood has decided they don’t want to stop there when it comes to potential 3D creature features. Unfortunately director David Ellis didn’t have the luxury of releasing his most iconic cheese-fest, Snakes on a Plane, in 3D, which may have helped bolster its box office sales. But now that 3D has come along swimmingly – as well as Piranha 3D – it seems like the perfect arena for Ellis to get back to work in.
Thus, friends (and neighbors), prepare yourselves for Shark Night 3D! I don’t think you need to know the plot for this ahead of time, but we will say that it revolves around a bunch of hot young adults who visit a lake house for the weekend and find themselves under attack by a clan of freshwater sharks unleashed by the locals because … why not?
Starring in the film (so far) are Chris Carmack, Alyssa Diaz, Joel David Moore, Sinqua Walls, Sara Paxton, Dustin Milligan and Katharine McPhee (remember her from American Idol? Now she’s being eaten by sharks in 3D!). The film will begin shooting next month in Louisiana, and will probably land in theaters around this time next year.
