As if you need an additional reason to check out Peter Jackson’s second chapter of his Hobbit trilogy, The Desolation of Smaug, Sony promises the first full-length trailer for The Amazing Spider-Man 2 attached to 3D prints.

At least, that’s what I believe is going to happen. My Middle-earth translation is a little rusty.

ASM 2 director Marc Webb teased fans on Twitter with a message in Dwarfish text:

Fans jumped on the translation, “Watch the Amazing Spiderman 2 trailer in front of The Hobbit in 3D!”

This is not the trailer:

But the real tease likely will include a lot of the footage Sony used to promote the sequel in Hall H at San Diego Comic-Con in July.

Sadly, we had been hearing that the first full Spidey trailer would be attached to Thor: The Dark World. Now it sounds like we’re going to have to wait a few more weeks, as The Hobbit doesn’t open until December 13. So when you go, get there early so you don’t miss the official teaser for the new Spider-Man movie, which opens in theaters next May.
