Both heartbreaking and inspirational, Suffragette tells the story of the early feminist movement in the U.K., where working class women, fed up with their peaceful protests being ignored, took a more radical and increasingly violent approach to achieving their goals of rights for women. Maude (Carey Mulligan), a young woman who has worked in a laundry since she was seven year old, is recruited into the movement and finds herself in the middle of the headlines and risking everything that she holds dear, including her life.

In this Fandango Movieclips exclusive featurette, "Suffragette: Then & Now," director Sarah Gavron and screenwriter Abi Morgan are joined by castmembers Mulligan, Meryl Streep and Helena Bonham Carter in presenting a stirring look at the Suffragette movement and how it inspired the filmmakers to tell the gripping story of how it affected a nation and still remains relevant today.

Suffragette marches into theaters October 23.
