What would a world be like with no crime or violence -- but also no human emotion? That's what the dystopian future brings in the sci-fi drama Equals, where a society called "The Collective" has eradicated all human feeling via a genetic treatment. When two young people (Nicholas Hoult and Kristen Stewart) start a forbidden relationship, they must choose to return to their emotionless lives or dare to pull off an escape.
Here, Silas (Hoult) is "just getting a checkup" at a clinic to see if he's feeling anything, where he meets someone in stage two of "Switched-on Syndrome" who turns out to be instrumental to his future.
Equals is currently on DirecTV and will open in theaters July 15.
