1950s New York is the backdrop for Carol, the story of an unconventional love affair between Therese, a young, twentysomething department store clerk who yearns for something more out of life, and Carol, an older, captivating woman stuck in a marriage of convenience. What starts as a friendship blossoms into something much deeper that will change their lives, and the lives of those around them, forever.

In this Fandango Movieclips exclusive clip, Therese (Rooney Mara) gives Carol (Cate Blanchett) a gift and upon assuring her that she "looks wonderful," a simple touch of their hands reveals something much more is happening between the two friends.
