Zombieland In a post-Apocalyptic America, a few survivors have managed to escape zombification. Jesse Eisenberg plays one of them, a timid kid with his own set of rules for handling the zombie problem. He meets up first with Woody Harrelson’s Twinkie-craving badass, then a pair of sisters on their way west to what they think is a safe haven, battling the undead all the way.
Though certainly not terrifying, this horror comedy does have plenty, and I mean plenty, of gore for genre fans as well as some genuinely laugh-out-loud moments. Don’t miss this one, especially for Bill Murray’s cameo. House of the Devil Blink and you missed this horror movie that certainly wasn’t a comedy in theaters last year. Writer-director Ti West builds the tension to a slow burn in this pitch-perfect old school 1980s-style fright flick about a coed who takes a babysitting job for a creepy family way out in the woods. Jocelin Donahue as the likeable Samantha carries the entire movie with skill, tiptoeing through the shadowy house, ordering pizza she never eats and generally conveying every bit of the nervousness you’d feel in her situation.
Amelia Hilary Swank plays the iconic pilot Amelia Earhart, who captivated a nation with her high-flying ambition before disappearing over the Pacific. It’s best when exploring Amelia’s skybound adventures, takes a nosedive with the love triangle soap opera with Richard Gere as her husband and Ewan McGregor as her lover.
Love Happens We're already subjected to all of Jennifer Aniston's love life problems offscreen, do we really need to watch them play out on screen as well? Here she stars as a florist who falls for a self-help guru unable to take his own advice. A romantic comedy without any comedy in which the real star ends up being the city of Seattle.
