Everyone wants to run around with superheroes…only it may be a little easier for some if they just lend their voice. Case in point: Variety tells us that Will Ferrell has replaced Robert Downey Jr. in the DreamWorks' big animated superhero comedy Oobermind, due out in theaters in the fall of 2010.

In the title role, Ferrell will play a supervillain who finds life isn't all too exciting after successfully defeating his arch-nemesis, Metro Man, who'll be voiced by Brad Pitt. In an effort to find something to do with himself, Oobermind creates a new superhero, Titan (to be voiced by Jonah Hill), but when Titan wants to be a bad guy, Oobermind is forced to switch sides in order to make things interesting. Lending some female cred to this convoluted (but hilarious sounding) superhero flick is actress Tina Fey. She'll voice a reporter whose job it is to keep track of all the different villains and heroes.

2009 wasn't the greatest year for DreamWorks, who weren't as successful as they wanted to be with Monsters vs. Aliens. However, studio chief Jeffrey Katzenberg feels 2010 will be a whole different story with Oobermind, Shrek Forever After and How to Train Your Dragon all arriving in theaters.
