This week's best trailers offer frightening visions from around the world.
The Pyramid
Adapting the deadpan cadence of a 1970s TV spot, the first trailer for The Pyramid helps to establish the movie's unique tone. Ashley Hinshaw, James Buckley, Denis O'Hare, Christa Nicola and Amir K star as a team of archeologists who find something quite a bit different than what they're searching for. The movie opens in theaters on December 5. [MovieClips]
[REC] 4: Apocalypse
Set to debut at the upcoming Toronto International Film Festival, the fourth installment in the zombie series follows intrepid reporter Angela Vidal, who wakes up in quarantine on a ship in the middle of an ocean. But how safe is she? The Spanish-language trailer does not have subtitles, but, really, we don't think you need to them to get goose pimples. [Fangoria]
Exists
Eduardo Sánchez, who codirected The Blair Witch Project back in 1999, helms this new found-footage thriller that begins in familiar territory before introducing a creature that looks like Bigfoot. Look for it in theaters on October 24. [MovieClips]
Amityville: The Awakening
Jennifer Jason Leigh buys a lovely home in Long Island, New York, and moves with with her three children as the trailer begins for Amityville: The Awakening, eager to start the next chapter in their lives. Unfortunately, no one told them about the previous 11 films in the franchise that detailed the horrors that await. Cameron Monaghan and Bella Thorne also star; the movie is due for release on January 2, 2015. [Yahoo]
