Annie was a film favorite of mine growing up in the ’80s, and now she is reappearing in theaters in an all-new version starring the wonderful Quvenzhane Wallis  as the curly haired orphan who steals everyone’s heart. My 10-year-old daughter and I both have been taken with the previews of the film thus far and cannot wait to see it.

My daughter is very much like the character, Annie---she’s a dreamer, very creative, and loves to sing and dance. And because she has been virtually counting down the days until she can see the movie, she came up with a few looks for herself that were inspired by Annie and the film.

Annie’s style has morphed over the years, but she has always been known for wearing tights with skirts, boots and other fun apparel. So my little fashionista had a blast putting together a look that is very much Annie, but also very much her own, too!

The Sun Will Come Out Tomorrow (Above, Right)

Rainy days will occur, but Annie proves you have to keep going. This outfit is Annie approved and is the template for any tween’s wardrobe. The dress and leggings are both from Forever 21 Kids and the military boots are from Macy’s.

Layers, Please (Above, Center)

If you are living the "Hard Knock Life," then jeans are a must. Winter is the perfect time to add layers, which also adds some fun to the look. My tween fashion plate added a sweater to her lace top, and matched it with jeans and military style boots. The complete outfit is from American Eagle Outfitters. The boots are from a thrifting trip we took.

Dress You Up (Above. Left)

When you think about Annie, dresses often come to mind. We found this cute classic style dress at Forever 21 Kids, and paired it with tights and a pair of Hello Kitty moccasin boots from Journey. It’s a perfect look for a tween Annie!

My Chicklet had a fun time putting these looks together. And she will be wearing one of them when we see the actual movie. I’m so glad that what’s old is new again. A whole new generation is sure to fall in love with Annie.
