Golden Globes 2017

The 2017 Golden Globe nominations have just been unveiled, giving us our first taste of what movies from 2016 everyone will still be talking about in a few month's time-- at least as far as prestigious awards shows go. The categories were largely dominated by a trio of titles everyone knew would be getting close to gold -- Moonlight, La La Land, Manchester by the Sea -- but throughout the ballot you can find plenty of surprises, and snubs.

For example, Finding Dory didn't make the cut for Best Animated Motion Picture, a rarity for a Pixar movie. Fences, Silence and Arrival were all left out of Best Picture. Mel Gibson received his first Best Director nomination since 1995's Braveheart. And while it likely won't receive an Oscar nomination, Deadpool does have a shot at taking home a shiny statue next year thanks to the Golden Globes.
