No one knows the triumphs and difficulties of a great performance like an actor does, and so every year the SAG (Screen Actors Guild) Awards sweeps into awards season, just as important (if not more so) than some other major awards because these are handed out to actors, by actors. The SAG Awards are also a great indicator for the year's biggest ceremony, the Academy Awards, and after tonight's victory for Best Ensemble it's hard not to view Argo as anything but the frontrunner for the Best Picture Oscar. Following both wins at the Golden Globes and Producers Guild Awards, Argo is currently cleaning house, and deservedly so.
Not many other surprises were found with SAG, as Daniel Day-Lewis (Lincoln) cleared more path toward another Oscar with a win for Best Male Actor, while Jennifer Lawrence (Silver Linings Playbook) inched closer to her own Oscar with a win. In the Best Supporting categories, Anne Hathaway (Les Miserables) and Tommy Lee Jones (Lincoln) took home awards, with Skyfall clawing its way to the top of its blockbuster pack with a win for Best Stunt Ensemble, beating out The Dark Knight Rises, The Bourne Legacy, The Amazing Spider-Man and Les Miserables.
Check out all the winners below, and let us know what you think. Does another win here mean Argo will win the Oscar? Do you think it deserves it? Sound off in the comments.
