In this fictionalized biopic inspired by the brief life of the 1930s screen siren Jean Harlow (Carroll Baker), Harlow arrives in Los Angeles as a teenager, pushed into showbiz by her mother (Angela Lansbury) and stepfather (Raf Vallone). Kindhearted agent Arthur Landau (Red Buttons) becomes Jean's mentor, while a devious Howard Hughes-like mogul (Leslie Nielsen) grows infatuated with the beautiful young actress.
