Big Jim Bottom (Spencer Williams) decides to frame newly arrived preacher Jasper Jones (Samuel H. James) to prevent him from influencing the town. After securing an incriminating photo of Jasper with three hired women, Jim is approached by his Aunt Caroline (Myra Hemmings), who adopted him in childhood, and she pleads for him not to carry on with Jasper's ruin. When Jim ignores her, Caroline prays to the ghost of her husband, who appears and guides her to the photo, but she is soon caught.
