If you are an adrenaline rushing, car chasing, block buster loving movie goer, skip it. If you like great story telling, cinematography, storytelling, direction and especially the acting, go see it! If you like to see all the movies for before the Oscar telecast, then you'll have to see it anyway because there is no doubt that both of these men will be nominated if not winners.

Phenomenal Story, Wonderful Acting; Powerful and Moving

Now I see why this film has been nominated for the "Best Picture" awards. What a wonderful true story; if all history were presented like this, many many people would take history as their major! Colin Firth is magnificent as a stumbling, fumbling, bumbling would-be king; Geoffrey Rush as the patient, eccentric teacher -- the chemistry between these two was breathtaking to behold. Helena Bonham Carter was superb as Mum in her younger days! AHH, to be treated to such a film is the reason we all go to the movies. I can think of nothing that would have improved this film -- absolute perfection. Thank you, oh wondrous filmmakers for this year's best!

Long Live The King!

II have not been able to stop talking about this movie! Whether or not you are a history buff or Anglophile the movie stands alone on the merits of the screenplay and the acting. The solemn understated tone of the entire ensemble piece is poetry personified. Each character embodies their role as a second skin. The compatibility between Collin Firth (always one of my favorites) and Geoffrey Rush both as actors and as characters is verisimilitude to the nth degree. I will see this again on the big screen merely to breathe in the atmosphere of intelligence and compassion portrayed in this bigger than life portrayal of suffering and triumph. However, I will own this movie as an integral part of my examples of how great actors become their screen/stage personas in a seamless melding of craft and soul.
