  • Must Go!

    No Stranger to Suspense.

One of master Hichcock's finest films is Strangers on a Train. The movie, like all of his others brilliantly weaves unbearable suspense, with taut direction, and superb performances. The premise is complex,a psycopath meets a tennis player, kills his wife, then tries to frame him for murdering his own wife. The suspense really poured on in the ending scenes, which were some of the best enders I've ever seen.It all ends on a carousel. The way Hitchcockcan just effortlessly bring on the suspense is on display here. The whole picture is masterfully put together, and the performances,as in every Hitchcock movie are fantastic.A Must-See.One last thing, look for the master's cameo!

    STRANGERS ON A TRAIN

By all of his standards up until that time, Alfred Hitchcock's STRANGERS ON A TRAIN was his quintessential thriller. It naturally deals with one of the Master's favorite themes: an innocent man accused of a crime he did not commit. But with this classic suspenser from the 1950s also comes a story of two very disperate yet similar characters. Young tennis pro Farley Granger meets ingratiating silver spoon man Robert Walker in a club car of a passenger train and during a rather intimate conversation of life, Walker's character suggest that they trade murders! How chagrinned is poor Farley when he discovers that his loose wife has indeed been offed by this psychotic stranger and he expects reccompense! What follows is a inexplicably delicious blend of dark humor and tightly wound action. If he didn't ahve some heavy hitters waiting in the wings for his Universal days, this surely would have been more widely regarded as one of his true masterpieces! DON'T PASS UP AN OPPORTUNITY TO SEE IT!

    Taut Thriller

An excellent movie from start to finish. A great script thanks to Raymond Chandler and outstanding acting from all of the prinicipals. One of the master's great films, lots of suspense, subtext and humor. Use of light, shadows and close-ups of taces and eyes weave a wicked web in this great thriller. Higbhly recommended.
