    Pitt's no Brad

I generally love period pieces but to describe this one as slow is an understatement. The biggest problem for me was the lead actor/character who I did not consider attractive nor charismatic. As a result, I could not see why the wife or the concubine would remotely find him irresistable!! A big drag overall!

    SILK

Gorgeous photography, lush location shooting, but this attempt to bring to life the story of a 19th Century traveler's trials and tribulations as he ventures back and forth to Japan from France ony to find lurid romance is quite uninvolving - can't quite make up my mind whether it is in the fault of the writing or Michael Pitt's luke-warm performance. Kierra Knightley is wasted as his dutiful wife. Very disappointing...

    Too slow.

The movie idea is fantastic. You want to LOVE this film, but it just doesn't cut it. The scenery is beautiful, but the movie moves way too slow. The main actor doesn't seem to show any passion for anything. He is way too passive. Unfortunate, because it could've been phenomenal!
