The Christmas box office didn't exactly bring in stellar numbers for Hollywood, but, as predicted (by me, since you folks voted for 'True Grit' on Friday ) Little Fockers did wind up winning the box office with $34 million. True Grit followed it up with $25.6 million, with TRON: Legacy getting bumped to third in only its second week with $20.1 million. The Chronicles of Narnia: Voyage of the Dawn Treader ($10.8 million) and Yogi Bear ($8.8 million) rounded out the top five. But what about Gulliver's Travels, you ask? Not so great for the poorly reviewed, 3D Jack Black flick, since it finished in seventh place with a disappointing $7. 2 million.
Little Fockers didn't exactly haul in the positive reviews either, as the third film in the Meet the Parents trilogy is currently showing a dismal 10% Rotten rating over on Rotten Tomatoes, which is actually lower than Gulliver's Travels (21% Rotten). True Grit, however, is at 94% Fresh, and so in that case all the positive reviews probably helped it finish number two at the box office.
Question is: Do all you folks who went to see Little Fockers this weekend agree with the critics, or did you thoroughly enjoy Ben Stiller, Robert De Niro and all their parenting antics? Sound off below and let us know how you'd rate this week's box office winner.
Little Fockers, Gulliver's Travels, True Grit
Some times it's just fun to let everything go and enjoy. I loved it and hope there is another movie coming.
It was not what I expected. The first two "Fockers" were more entertaining and funny. The producers should be smarter, if they want to continue the series.
I thought the movie was inappropriate for anyone under 16. This was a disappointment. Thank you AMC for allowing me to exchange my tickets. Do not bring kids to see this movie.
I thought it was hysterical. From the bathroom scene to the remix of jack byrnes, I found I was laughing a lot of the time.
They had so much potential with these movies, yet I think they really let us down with this one. The relationship between character Jack Burns and Greg Focker had been established in the previous film to take it to such lengths that showed the characters going back to their original postions on how they felt about each other really made it like a reproduction of the first film. This script was poorly written and the movie at worst was dry and ran on and on and at its best had a few somewhat funny parts wasnothing like the first two which made me laugh so hard I cried.
It wasn't what I expected it to be, but it was pretty funny!!! I loved the God Focker part, and the bathroom seen had me rolling in the floor!!!!! I guess it may just depend on your frame of mind going into it.
This movie was just rude, crude, and down-right stupid! I can't believe that Ben Stiller would agree to do such a movie! It was awful! Purely, purely awful! Do NOT see this movie, it is just a waste of your time and money. :(
It was just not what I expected. Thought that it would have been hilarious, but it was so so. Also the name Little Fockers made me assume that it more of a focus on the kids...over all it was just ok I could waited for it to come to HBO...you know a Saturday night special..
Little Fockers was a MAJOR disappointment, although I did like the end of the movie in tone. The Andie Garcia character was overdone, over the top and down right annoying. The first two movies were so hilarious, the third missed its potential completely. This is the first movie I have ever seen Owen Wilson in that I could not stand his role. Even as Dupree, you had to laugh. This character was just insanely unbelieveable. Too bad, I was so looking forward to this movie.....
I couldn't agree more! It was just awful!
"Welcome to the party, pal."
"I am serious... and don't call me Shirley."
"When am I gonna learn how to punch?"
"These go to eleven."
"Benjamin, have you ever been severely beaten about the face & neck?"
"Just keep swimming, swimming, swimming."
"You're gonna need a bigger boat."
"Jessica's got cable."
