You knew this was bound to happen eventually, since it's been something we've been talking about for years. Yes, fans, George Lucas and LucasFilm have announced that beginning in 2012, they'll be re-releasing all six Star Wars films in theaters in 3D. The plan right now is to release one film per year, beginning with Episode I: The Phantom Menace.
Star Wars, 3-D, George Lucas
Fanboy Fix, 3D
Absolutely! As one who became a fan and had his life changed as an adult I'll be more than happy to be there with all the other genuine fans who aren't too full of themselves to enjoy. Again.
Well, us SW fans will see anything.. movies, books, cartoons (I'm 57 and LOVE Clone Wars).. it's just a movie, a concept. Who cares if it's 3D or not, it's entertainment, a way to escape from the real world and dream of something other than reality.. I am waiting for the movies to be released on blue ray.. please???? *grin*
Why can't people leave classic films alone!?
Cash grab......I dont think so. Yeah he might make some money on this but what do you think 9 production year just to get the first couple going is gonna cost? I am sure he's dropping 500 million in this to get it going. Not a cash grab. But he does need to keep poeple exited for 6 years leading up to ep. 7-9 if that is actually in the works.
Oh, stop your whining! if you're irritated and don't like the idea of more money being tallied in to the already bulging coffers of the Star Wars franchise, then don't go see it. Simple as that, whiner. You won't be missed. For their worldwide popularity, they must be brilliant, and tap in to our basic human, universal, needs for storytelling, as you can quickly be educated by the brilliant Joseph Campbell in his book works and public Television interviews by Bill Moyers, published under the title, "The Power of Myth" that explains the universal attraction in Lucas' Star Wars narrative, clearly! open your mind before your mouth. Your negativity only limits your believability as an objective critic!
yeah but most everybody has heard this story many times, what is gona make it better. Just because it is in 3D it still is the same "Star Wars" that we all love.
AGAIN,...If you've seen it/heard it too many times, back off, don't see it, yourself, and let the next generation be taken away by its' magic, like we were! Today's modern movie audience is starting to feel ripped off, unless its' in 3D! For some of us, that grew up, immersed in the StarWars mythology, it takes us back to those times, and we can stop growing up for a little while! Just for the chance of seeing it in a theater again, some of us might return if there was a change to the credits!
3D movies are crap To make these movies on 3D would ROB the next generation of the magic that these movies were for us. These movies are CLASSIC lets not make them into 3D and have our children enjoy them as we did.
I fell in love with episodes 4, 5, & 6. I have seen them over 100 times, and have them on tape. I'm over 43 years old and by the time Episodes 4, 5, & 6 come out I will probably be 50 years old. But I will definitely shell the extra money to see it in 3D! These movies are AWSOME, and it's worth it!!!
I am 74 years young and raised 3 Sons. I will be sitting right beside them , and several grandkids, I'm sure, when Starwars comes out in theaters ! We are huge Fans of George Lucas and the Star Wars movies !! CAN'T WAIT !!
Star Wars in 3D,OH YEAH!! I`ll be there!!
my first date and we saw Star Wars.......I went and saw it at least 20 times by myself after that. I've been hooked ever since. The only franchise since that's better was the Lord of the Rings. I'll fork over the dough to see it in 3D.
My boys and I love all things Star Wars. Unfortunately my oldest son gets headaches from 3D movies. Guess we'll have to skip these.
I agree that for those who've never seen these movies on-screen, these films will be a revelation! I also agree that when you have GEORGE LUCAS spending this amt. of time on a project, it has to come out AWESOME! I think I would like to see them in their proper chronological order at least 1 time, but for me Episodes IV-VI are unbeatable! If you view them in that order, you see the best 3 last! And since when did anyone make movies NOT with an eye to making $$$? Get real! At least there are some who actually do make great films worth spending $ on! There are others that I don't quite see how they manage to get new projects, coz their prior work isn't that impressive, & stories that weren't any good to start w/! MAKE SURE THE POPCORNS READY!
ill be there, this is one of the best decitions ever made!!!
For the prices they ask now, a 3D animated Star Wars is a waste of money. If you noticed they added to the older movies and I believe it's a good idea. I've seen the first growing up and would love it in 3D. It's the new age so get used to it!
oh yeah i`ll see it.i cant wait
i will definitely see these movies in 3D!!! Its gonna be pretty awesome... it'll be a must see for every for every Star Wars fan out there.
I saw the first movie when I was 16 or 17 and I was there 13 times the first week!! I am completely stoked for this. Sure it is definitely a cash grab, and they can have some of mine. The whole 3D thing is a little annoying but hey for Star Wars I will pay the extra cash !!!
I have to admit, I have spent tons of $$$$ on Star Wars over the years. I think I saw the original "A New Hope" something like 16 times in the movie theater. Over the years, I have purchased video tapes, then the newer video tapes, then the DVDs' and the better DVD's, and other sets as well that I can't remember. So, I guess in for a penny, in for a pound. I will not only go to the movies to see these, but buy the DVD's when they are available on Blu Ray in 3D as well.
Rod who is a fan, so he wastes his money on this crap.
I probably will go see them in 3D
"Welcome to the party, pal."
"I am serious... and don't call me Shirley."
"When am I gonna learn how to punch?"
"These go to eleven."
"Benjamin, have you ever been severely beaten about the face & neck?"
"Just keep swimming, swimming, swimming."
"You're gonna need a bigger boat."
"Jessica's got cable."
