'Star Wars' Back in Theaters

The Force will be with everyone one more time starting August 15, 2008. That's the official U.S. release date for Star Wars: The Clone Wars, an animated feature from George Lucas and company, which takes place between the events of Episodes II and III.

A couple things will be different for this go-round. The familiar 20th Century Fox fanfare will be absent this time, with Warner Bros. picking up distributor duties.

And unlike the live-action films, this movie's a kick-off to a cartoon series that will air this fall with 30-minute epsiodes on the Cartoon Network and TNT.

Some 'new revelations,' and new characters, will also be introduced in the movie, including Anakin's padawan learner Ahsoka.

Here is the first set of pics:

Wow, that's just ridiculous. How many more crummy products can they milk from the star wars world? I mean Star Wars was great but then you add in the Ewok Adventure, the holiday special, the second trilogy, the cartoon, the books, the mass amount of collectibles, and a shocking number of video games. Now this. Haven't they made enough money off of Star Wars? They should have let it die gracefully before people start to hate it but then they wouldn't have made nearly as much money. I'm sure this animated movie will make money even if it is horrible. That's just sad.

Star Wars as a big screen cartoon? I don't know about that. Ewoks Adventure, anyone? Or the whole Xmas special thing?
