While Steven Spielberg has kept busy on the first Tintin movie, the man isn't wasting any time plotting out his next adventure. Some of you might be wishing for that to be another Indiana Jones movie, or that long-overdue Abraham Lincoln biopic, however Variety shares with us news today on Spielberg and how he's really interested in bringing the adventures of secret agent Matt Helm to the big screen.
Based on a series of 27 novels by Donald Hamilton, Helm, like James Bond, is a government agent whose job it is to take down other enemy agents. Apparently the script by Paul Attanasio has a real Bourne Identity vibe to it, though a legal mess between DreamWorks, Paramount and Disney could make it so Spielberg only produces the film, but doesn't direct.
Are you familiar with the books? Is Spielberg the right man to bring them to life?
Jennifer Aniston Is a Total Puma!
Wait, I thought it was cougar? Anyway, it was announced today that Jennifer Aniston (or J-Ston, as I like to call her) has signed on to co-star in a film called Pumas for CBS Films where she'll play a thirty-something gal who, along with a girlfriend of hers, likes to romance younger men. The plot will apparently follow these two pumas (cougars?) on a French skiing vacation where they'll both meet some romantic challenges.
Doesn't sound all that inspired, however it's being directed by Wayne McClammy. Name sound familiar? He's the dude who became famous off those 'I'm F**king Matt Damon/Ben Affleck" videos featuring Sarah Silverman and Jimmy Kimmel. Yeah, so maybe there's a little something to this flick that they're not sharing.
In the meantime, which younger actor(s) would you like to see romance Ms. Aniston? And help me out here: What's the difference between a puma and a cougar? Or are they the same?
Russell Crowe to Continue Acting for At Least 'The Next Three Days'
Here's a shocker: It's a Russell Crowe news story that doesn't involve Ridley Scott! The Hollywood Reporter tells us that Crowe has just signed on to star in Paul Haggis' (Crash) new film, The Next Three Days, which is a remake of a French thriller titled Pour Elle. In the film, Crowe will play one half of a married couple who must spring into action when his wife is imprisoned for a murder she says she didn't commit.
Something tells me this won't be a long drawn-out court flick, and instead will follow the husband as he devises a daring plan to rescue his wife from jail. Could be a pretty cool film, though a lot of it does depend on who they get to star opposite Crowe. Any suggestions?
