'Rush Hour 4' Moves Forward, WB Plans 'The Shining' Prequel

Chris Tucker and Jackie Chan could be reuniting soon. Speaking with CraveOnline at the Television Critics Association, Rush Hour producer Arthur Sarkissian shed some light on a possible fourth movie.

For starters, Sarkissian said the film is being "worked on" and there's an overall plot in mind.

"I'm trying to do it closer to Rush Hour 1, more down to earth, more gritty, introduce two new characters and make it real the way the first one was. I personally was not happy with the third one. I thought 1 and 2 were very good. I think 3 got out of hand a little bit. It's not a matter of just bringing them back to do another segment of that or a sequel to it by putting them in another city and having them bicker. I don't want that. I want something new."

"Maybe Chris is now married; maybe Jackie is married to Octavia Spencer, I don't know," Sarkissian said. "Maybe to Chris's cousin, they live in Shanghai, Chris goes to visit them. I don't know. I want something energetic."

This isn't the first time Rush Hour 4 has been discussed. Chan discussed the possibility of a fourth film back at the Cannes Film Festival last May, but he didn't seem optimistic it would happen anytime soon.

He told Empire, "I don't want it to happen at this moment. Probably another five or ten years. Then will be Rush Hour 4 – BOOM – we're coming back! And at that time I might retire. Us being old guys might make it more interesting story. But at this moment, I don't think it's something I want to do."

Five years have passed since the last Rush Hour film hit screens. Has enough time passed to bring the franchise back? What should the fourth film be about? Who should be added to the cast and who else from the previous Rush Hour films should return? (ahem) Roselyn Sanchez.

Before we get too worked up about this, know that plans for a prequel to The Shining are still "in the very early stages." That been said, Shutter Island writer Laeta Kalogridis is working on a script and has support from The Amazing Spider-Man writer James Vanderbilt and producing partner Bradley Fischer who are signed on as producers.

The film would focus on what happened before Jack Torrance, played by Jack Nicholson in the 1980 Stanley Kubrick classic, his wife and psychic son arrived at their haunted retreat.

I agree Rush Hour 1 was the best but I think he is being a little harsh on 3. I personally loved all the Rush Hour movies and 3 was still a fun watch. Bringing back Roselyn Sanches is a good idea. I think that Jason Yee would make an awesome bad guy for Rush Hour 4 after seeing him in The Girl From The Naked Eye.

I vote for Roselyn, as long as her face doesn't get altered by thugs, ala Act of Valor
